Twenty-Second Week in Ordinary Time

BACKBONE:

Lobster shell or backbone? Which do we want? The law can be used in different ways. Jesus argued for law as backbone. He looked at the real purpose of “clean and unclean,” “exterior and interior,” adherence to the word planted within. When law is backbone, then we have cause to exercise and grow in the Lord, supported and strengthened in the truth. In this life, Christ Jesus, who is the way of service to one another, leads us by the power of the Holy Spirit to the Father.

MINISTRY FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES

Did you know that 1 out of 5 members of our parish has some type of disabling condition? That is 20%! Please be aware of your surroundings and lend a helping hand. We are blessed to have several parishioners who are voluntarily serving as your Parish Advocates. A Parish Advocate is someone who acts on behalf of persons with disabilities to ensure that all are invited to fully participate and share in the life of our church community. We are all children of God and we have all been given a gift. How can we help you? We meet once a month and invite you to join us. For more info call Susan Perron at (757) 499-9718 or the church office at (757) 497-8330.

SMALL FAITH COMMUNITIES

Participation in a small faith community raises your awareness of what scripture says and how it fits into your life. You will be able to discuss with others the problems and challenges you are experiencing in your Christian journey. Some Small Faith Communities continue throughout the year. If you would like to join one that meets weekly to discuss the Sunday readings call Elaine at (757) 424-1558 or email her at AED999@hotmail.com.

CD MINISTRY

We now have two racks, one in the Commons and one in the old spot, the corridor outside the Commons leading to the side parking lot and classrooms. So remember to check on both racks for CD titles.
